Recently, Mr. Xin Peng, vice president of the Wuxi Cross-border E-commerce Small and Medium sized Enterprises Chamber of Commerce, along with the Chamber of Commerce and participated in a visit to Southeast Asia - Colombo, Sri Lanka. With the continuous deepening of the "Belt and Road" development strategy, China's large state-owned enterprises and private enterprises are moving towards the world stage and jointly participating in the economic construction of countries along the "Belt and Road". Among them, Sri Lanka is one of the important countries along the "Belt and Road", it is of great significance for Chinese enterprises to participate in international competition. As one of the important member units of Wuxi Cross-border E-commerce Small and Medium sized Enterprises Chamber of Commerce, Tysim participated in this inspection tour.

The purpose of the trip is to help the chamber of commerce and enterprises to fully understand the investment opportunities in various fields in Sri Lanka, to provide consulting services to enterprises that intend to invest, and to assist enterprises to solve relevant connecting problems. After the Southeast Asian delegation of the Wuxi Cross-border E-commerce Small and Medium sized Enterprises Chamber of Commerce concluded the business activities in Phnom Penh, under the guidance of Chairman Zhang XiaoDong, Secretary-General and Rotating Chairman Yang QiLu, Vice President Xin Peng, and GaoYou-Wuxi Chamber of Commerce Chairman Lv QingJun, the delegation arrived in Colombo (the capital of Sri Lanka) to start a business study of Sri Lanka. The representative of the Sri Lanka Textile Industry Association warmly welcomed the delegation at Colombo Airport, and the chairman of the association accompanied the whole inspection in Sri Lanka.

Colombo, known as the "Eastern Crossroads", is the gateway to Sri Lanka. It is located on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka and borders the Indian Ocean. Colombo is the largest city in Sri Lanka and also the center of politics, economy, culture and transportation. Colombo's traditional economy is mainly port industry and service industry. Emerging manufacturing factories are mostly built on the outskirts of the city. Although the industry is not very developed, there are textile, tobacco, machinery, metal, food, chemical and other industries, as well as general machinery and automobile assembly and repair factories. The WuXi delegation visited the Sri Lanka Board of Investment (BOI) and discussed relevant investment policies, and was warmly received by Ms. Renuka M Weerakone, Director-General (Ministerial Level) of the Board of Investment and her colleagues. Prasanjith Wijayatilake, director of the Investment Promotion Division, gave a detailed introduction to Sri Lanka's various investment policies. Nilupul De Silva, director of the Promotion Division, and M H Casseer, deputy director of the Middle East, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand Regional Investment Promotion Commission Office, also attended the meeting.

Afterwards, the WuXi delegation visited the Commercial Bank of Ceylon, which is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1920, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon provides various banking products andservicesin Sri Lanka and Mumbai, India. It operates five businesses: Personal Banking, Corporate Banking, International Business, Investment Banking, Trading and finance. Asela Wijesiriwardane, deputy general manager of the bank, received and explained relevant bank policies.

Finally, the WuXi delegation visited the largest export processing zone in Sri Lanka - Katunayake Export Processing Zone. Sri Lanka encourages foreign investment and the development of export processing industry, and actively creates a favorable investment policy environment. At present, the Investment Promotion Board (BOI) has jurisdiction over 10 Export Processing Zones (EPZ), 1 Export Processing Park (EPP) and 1 Industrial Park (IP) that have been established. Eng.M.K.D.Lawrance, executive director of Katunayake Export Processing Zone, received and explained the relevant investment policies and services of the park.

WuXi Cross-border E-commerce Small and Medium sized Enterprises Chamber of Commerce was established in 2015 under the call of the national Internet+, Belt and Road Initiative, and under the care and guidance of WuXi Municipal Bureau of Commerce, WuXi City Federation of Industry and Commerce, WuXi Civil Affairs Bureau and Alibaba Group, with members of more than 100 spontaneous companies engaged in Cross-border e-commerce in international trade (B2B) in WuXi area (including JiangYin and YiXing). Through the integration of chamber of commerce resources, expand business opportunities and achieve a qualitative leap in the member enterprises, the aim is to enhance the respective company's own strength through internal communication and exchanges and to realize corporate management upgrades and business improvements.
